7. The Walk Of Punishment
The Walk of Punishment is located in the city of Astapor beside the harbour. It’s here that slaves are strapped to a cross and left to rot in the sun as a warning to other slaves.
Unsurprisingly, Daenerys is appalled by this barbaric practice and offers one of the slaves a drink. As she approaches him, his bloody wounds become clearer, and he simply refuses her offer and accepts his fate.
As well as being a rather gruesome spectacle, the other terrifying aspect of the Walk of Punishment is how the citizens of Astapor completely ignore the crucified victims. From their perspective, the practice of torturing slaves and leaving them out to die is simply an everyday occurrence.
