Jennifer Jason Leigh has enjoyed a deserved career revival in the last couple of years, working with three very esteemed directors. Quentin Tarantino in The Hateful Eight, Charlie Kaufman in Anomalisa, and now David Lynch in Twin Peaks.

Leigh worked with another fabled American maverick in David Cronenberg’s 1999 body horror flick eXistenZ, in a role one can imagine played into Lynch’s decision to cast her; as sensual as she is mysterious, Geller appears to be harbouring some terrible secret – you could almost say she’s filled with them – drawing you into the unsettling, fractured maze of her world from which there appears to be no end in sight.

The painfully 90's crimped hairdo is probably not a conscious distraction, mind you, but if you can ignore that, you will be treated to a towering performance from an actress who really should have been utilised more in her wilderness years.
