10 New Netflix Shows We Cannot Wait To Watch In 2021

Whether you're a fantasy fanatic or a science-fiction nut, Netflix has something for everyone.

As we recover from the real-life horrors of 2020, Netflix has promised viewers a host of new and exciting content to binge on throughout 2021.

After delighting, thrilling, and terrifying audiences with programs such as The Queens Gambit and The Haunting of Bly Manor in 2020, the streaming giant shows few signs of running out of steam just yet.

While Netflix has often come under fire for choosing quantity over quality, sometimes pumping out original programming of dubious standards, there are still several new shows that we think will scare, thrill, and entertain audiences throughout the world.

Particular highlights include an action-packed limited series from the creators of Money Heist, an innovative fantasy series inspired by Brexit, and Toni Collette's latest project.

So, from ambitious new sci-fi shows to gripping documentaries, here are ten new Netflix shows we cannot wait to watch in 2021.

10. Shadow and Bone

The One
Netflix

Adapted from Leigh Bardugo's bestselling fantasy series, Shadow and Bone focuses on Alina Starkov, a young orphan living in the Kingdom of Ravka. On the surface, Alina is an ordinary girl. However, the teenager soon discovers that she unexpectedly possesses powerful, supernatural abilities.

Given her potent magical powers, Alina is forced to join the Grisha, an elite army working to defeat The Shadow Fold, an all-consuming area of darkness which threatens the Kingdom. Alina is faced with twists and turns, powerful enemies, and omnipotent forces, and the young girl must fight to survive.

Upon release, Bardugo's novel was praised for its lavish setting, incredible world-building, and superb characterisation. We predict that Netflix's adaptation will stay true to its source material, crafting a fantasy world which entices, terrifies, and entertains viewers and critics alike.

Also starring Ben Barnes and Zoe Wanamaker in supporting roles, this ambitious fantasy series promises stunning visuals, innovative story-telling, and well-developed characters. Scheduled for release on April 23, we cannot wait for this magical mini-series.
