1. ...And Become One Of The Last Surviving Species In Existence
Speaking of Interstellar back there, one of the big messages of Christopher Nolans recent sci-fi blockbuster is that humanity will always endure, even if we will eventually have to abandon our dying planet (something was has, duh, happened a handful of times on Doctor Who, too). For The Doctor, his high opinion of the human race certainly has a lot to back it up: in the episode Utopia, its made clear that well be one of the last surviving species in existence. Humans are like cockroaches or something, only less evil. Again, though, that episode depicts humanity as having evolved into something very different. In the case of Utopia, spending millions of years in a gaseous form and then as digital, downloadable data, before finally settling back down into recognisable human shapes. Thats quite cheering, isnt it? A few millennia as farts, but then we reconstitute ourselves good and proper. Ultimately, according to Doctor Who, the future of humanity looks bright. Although if we do make it to the year 100,000,000,000,000, we have to contend with being hunted down by the Futurekind. And spending time with John Barrowman...
