10 Predictions For The Future Of Humanity (According To Doctor Who)
2. Humans Evolve Into Something Else...
Evolution is a slow, laborious process. Its unlikely that anybody living today will be around for whatever the next stage of human evolution will look like, if it even happens; right now futurists like Ray Kurzweil are dedicated to ensuring their own evolution, through a combination of life-extending medications and technological augmentations that are starting to create the very first cyborgs. As Earth stands to go through some very radical changes in the far future, humanity is going to have to learn to adapt pretty fast. Hopefully itll be a little prettier from the evolutionary leap Doctor Who has in mind, as the Seventh Doctor serial The Curse Of Fenric depicted an Earth many years in the future where humans have become haemovores, hideous vampiric creatures by the last survivor of a pollution-ravaged future Earth. Yeah, so thats a sort of worst case scenario thing, when in reality any great changes in human evolution will probably be more about our lungs adapting to a changing atmosphere and the like, rather than turning us all into hideous blue monsters The Doctor can only defeat in a game of chess.
