The X-Men actually have a pretty good history when it comes to TV shows. In fact, most longtime X-fans of a certain age were probably introduced to the characters not through the movies, or the comic books, but from the nineties animated series, which has not aged particularly well in a lot of ways, but remains pretty neat regardless. The last decade of the 20th century turned out to be something of a boon for superhero cartoons. The respective Batman and Superman animated series, presided over by Bruce Timm, were doing gangbusters for DC, and Marvel got in on the action with Spider-Man, X-Men, and to a lesser extent Hulk, Iron Man and Fantastic Four. X-Men was always head and shoulder above, however, adapting some of the most iconic story lines for the small screen. Best of all, though? That totally rocking theme song, with its guitar solos and soaring strings. The best thing the live action show could do is bring that back, to be honest.
