10 Questions About The X-Men TV Show

5. Is It In The Same Universe As The Films?

A lot of that speculation is based on the assumption that the X-Men TV series would even take place in the same universe as the films, however. Marvel have been very careful in building their Shared Cinematic Universe between their movies and now TV shows and Netflix series, and Sony is trying to do the same with Spider-Man and associated spin-offs. There's never been any sign that Fox are in the same game, however. There was some speculation that their rebooted Fantastic Four film would be set in the same universe as the X-Men franchise, before the screenwriter rightly pointed out that wouldn't actually make any sense. Right now Fox are negotiating the rights to a TV show with Marvel, and whilst it could be cool if they connected it to the films, there's not really any reason to. None of DC's current crop of shows are connected in any way, and are far from the films. X-Men continuity's so boned, it'd be a headache making it all work, too.
