10 Reasons 2015 Is The Perfect Year To Become A Doctor Who Fan

9. 10th Anniversary

Let€™s begin by setting expectations. There is unlikely to be any kind of feature length, Doctor returning, end of the world style episode to mark the tenth anniversary of NuWho. Whilst it€™s sad that fans are unlikely to see Matt Smith back in the TARDIS, for many it would still be too soon. It would be unfair for the Eleventh Doctor to come waltzing back into Clara Oswald€™s life when she€™s just gotten over the loss of Danny Pink and it would be unfair to Peter Capaldi for Matt Smith to - potentially - overshadow him while he€™s still finding his feet. Fans should not, however, assume that the anniversary will be completely ignored. Ten years is a milestone for any television show these days, especially in a hyper-competitive televisual world in which the merest of rating slips can find your favourite show tossed aside for Celebrity Come Dine with My Wife Swap Big Brother In The Jungle. Saturday nights have been the Doctor€™s home for the past ten years and with ratings battles being heated, it€™s easy to forget that the Doctor was, on many occasions during this particular series, going head to head with the Simon Cowell juggernaut that is The X Factor. Joining the show in yet another momentous year should give fans a real glimpse into what's like to be a Doctor Who fan. Whether you enjoy every show or not, fans are generally given what they want and when these special occasions come around, the BBC and Steve Moffat himself rarely let the fans down.
