10 Reasons 2015 Is The Perfect Year To Become A Doctor Who Fan

7. Missy

Missy, oh Missy! If you€™re not a fan of Doctor Who already and you plan on going back to start all over again, then skip ahead. Spoilers! Missy, the latest incarnation of the Doctor€™s oldest rival and often enemy the Master, has already been one of the biggest hits of Steven Moffat€™s era. Taking a chance to turn the Master into a female was always going to be a risk but bringing in Michelle Gomez to play the role was a genius piece of casting. She was fun, she was flirty, but she also brought that sense of true insanity that has plagued the Master since his NuWho return. Whilst many were concerned that she was gone, it has since been confirmed that Missy will be returning to our screens in Series 9. This is excellent news as her new personna really has so much more to be explored. Michelle Gomez seemed to be made for the role and her desire to be friends with the Doctor could lead to some interesting dynamics as her story develops. As a new fan, however, you€™re treated to a foe that is a real challenge for the Doctor. The Master - or Missy, in this case - has always been a match for the titular Time Lord's intellect and cunning. Given that the Doctor€™s greatest weapon is his mind, it€™s intriguing to think of how this game of cat and mouse will play out, especially given that the Doctor has never really been willing to kill his oldest friend anyway. Joining now as a new fan will allow for viewers to really explore the new dynamic of this old relationship which is intriguing in itself.
