10 Reasons Dexter Is The Greatest Ever Screen Serial Killer

10. Touch Of RealismDexter Morgan I am playing fast and loose with the term €œrealism€ here, but from what we have become accustomed to in terms of TV killers, it does have merit. Very often, our killer is some enigmatic presence with nearly unlimited wealth who is able to get into places no other human being can and stage elaborate kills or leave even more elaborate riddles. They enter with the wind and disappear with shadows. They are not from this earth. We don€™t get that (for the most part) with Dexter. Instead, we get to peak behind the curtain. Dexter has a job and family (of varying degrees depending on the season). Because of both of those, Dexter has to deal with time constraints. Where as we budget our time so we can make it to the grocery store and dry cleaner after work, Dexter makes sure to pencil in a light ritual killing before dinner. Watching him juggle his schedule is one of the things that makes him more relatable to the rest of us, at least up until that part where he puts a knife into someone€™s chest.
