5. There Is No Alternative

Fans who call for Moffat's departure from the helm of Doctor Who should first consider an all important question: Who would take over? At this point, the most likely answer would be Mark Gatiss, whose output has generally been average. He has written for both Doctor Who and Sherlock and is very close with Moffat, so he's arguably the most experienced candidate. Would this really excite the fans, though? The reaction would be lukewarm, at best. The other likely candidates are Toby Whithouse and Gareth Roberts, but neither of them are worth writing home about. A possible dark horse is Jaime Mathieson, but once again, Matheson doesn€™t have experience being a showrunner. Dream candidates like Neil Gaiman is simply too busy, and other candidates such as Chris Chibnall and Neil Cross are both currently running their own shows. It appears that, for the moment, Who may be best left in the Grand Moff€™s hands. After all, sometimes the devil you know€
