A major critique lobbed at NuWho in the past has been its significant dearth of female writers. Moffat has started the show in the right direction by recruiting Catherine Tregenna, a writer for Torchwood, to write for Series 9. Sure, he is still a long way from solving the problem, but this is certainly progress. Who knows? Maybe if Moffat stays long enough and continues this trend, the next showrunner could be a female.
