10 Reasons The Future Of Doctor Who Is Safe With Steven Moffat
6. He Isn't Out Of Good Ideas Yet
Perhaps the most immediate question concerning Moffat's decision to stay is whether or not he still can get his creative juices flowing. He has proven himself to be one of, if not the most, creative writers to work with Doctor Who, but fans are starting to complain about his repeated tropes. Moffat's trademarks include flirty female characters (River, Tasha Lem, Series 7 Clara), characters meeting the Doctor at different points in their life (Madame de Pompadour, Amy, River) and monsters who require you not to use a basic bodily function (Angels - don't blink, Clockwork Robots - don't breathe, the Listen monster, if there was one -don't look). After four seasons and a plethora of episodes written, it would not be unfair to say that Moffat may be out of ideas. However, Series 8 was one of his best as showrunner and it appeared that Moffat was reinventing old tricks in a creative manner. Even before Series 8 ended, Moffat told fans that he had Series 9s penultimate cliffhanger already planned out. It appears that Moffat still has some ideas floating around in that wildly imaginative mind of his.
