6. The Introduction And Story Arc Of Sil
Aside from the return of fan-favourite enemies like the Daleks and the Cybermen, Six's run introduces us to one of the nastiest and most iconic villains in the show's history.
Sil first appears in Baker's most iconic story, 1985's Vengeance on Varos. He's a disgustingly slimy representative of the Galatron Mining Corporation who is on a mission to take over the planet Varos. The portrayal of Sil is nothing short of engaging, as he enjoys several menacing scenes with the Doctor.
In an intensely dark and surreal scene, Sil even attempts to turn companion Peri into a half-human, half-bird hybrid. Sil then returns in Baker's second season, this time posing as an arms dealer on the planet Thoros Beta, supplying weapons for the planet's civil war.
These interactions with Sil are a high point of the Sixth Doctor's tenure, and he's so popular that he received his own spinoff in 2019. This was called Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor, in which Sil faces being put on trial and has to prevent his own execution.
