10 Reasons Why Doctor Who Fans Should Give Martha Jones A Break

5. No Pressure

Martha Jones returned once again in the Series 4 finale, The Stolen Earth and Journey's End, and this time she had been promoted to UNIT's Medical Director on the mysterious Project Indigo - a role which put the fate of the entire world quite literally in her hands. If you hadn't been able to give her the benefit of the doubt thus far, this is really where you need to give the poor girl a bloody break. As previously established, her tenure in the TARDIS had been much more turbulent that most and she'd spent the majority of it feeling second best and generally being taken for granted. Here she now was in a position of incomprehensible power as she was tasked with the colossal duty of destroying the entire planet if it meant that the universe would ultimately be saved from the might of Davros and his formidable Dalek army. Suffice to say, it's a responsibility that not many would agree to take on lightly but once again Martha did what was asked of her and dealt with the situation rather admirably indeed. She did go a bit power crazy for a minute there but her actions ultimately proved that she was more than deserving of her inclusion in the coveted Children of Time. What's more, for the most part of the episode she was stuck in a castle somewhere in Germany while the Doctor and the rest of his companions were chinwagging on the Crucible. It was a universal party... and she wasn't invited. That's reason enough to give a little extra lovin', right? Tumblr Mhs2r692m71qzpaepo3 250 Gif
