Delving a bit more into the emotional side of things, it must be said the acting is really on point for the main actors in this season.

Jason Segel has some great material to play with, especially when Marshall finds out Lily's pregnant, while Alyson Hannigan becomes an anchor for the audience in later episodes as Lily realises an era of her life with her friends is coming to an end. Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders, as previously mentioned, have some great scenes coming to grips with Barney and Robin's impending marriage.

Hats off in particular though to Radnor and Milioti , who pull off some very convincing chemistry in the few scenes they do share together. As mentioned, the first date and anniversary dinner are great flash-forwards, but the top place has to go to Milioti's rendition of 'La Vie En Rose'.

As the pair sit next to each other, but shielded by separate balconies, The Mother starts to strum the song as Ted silently listens. It's initially heart-warming - we know that Ted is so close to having everything he ever wanted - but the context of the ending also adds a tragic layer to the scene.

It's bittersweet that they both have that memory, but fate stopped them from enjoying it together.
