10 Reasons Why How I Met Your Mother Season 9 Isn't As Bad As You Remember
5. ...And All Of The Characters Get Closure
As mentioned before, for a show that ran for nine years with over 20 episodes a season, it's amazing how the showrunners managed to tie so many threads up.
Lily and Marshall move to Rome and expand their family, Marshall's law career finally takes off, Ted meets the love of his life, Robin and Barney get married (and divorced), Barney becomes a father and Robin becomes the successful journalist she always wanted to be, before realising it was actually love she was after. While not everything may have been to the fans liking (again, we'll come on to that), these are all life resolutions that make sense for these characters.
That said, it's not just the main cast who get their stories wrapped up, and there's a great little montage in episode 21 where Ted recounts what happened to many of the gang's acquaintances in the show. There's some lovely examples in there - James convincing his husband to take him back and Carl the bartender running MacLaren's with his son - while others are outright crazy. Kevin and Jeanette getting together in therapy? What?!
