While the dynamic between Barry and Oliver was a strong point for the episodes, the highlight of the crossover was the epic Flash vs. Arrow showdown on the first night. Affected by a metahuman whose gaze incites rage and violence in his victims, Barry goes on a rampage through the streets of Central City, leaving Oliver as the only one that can stop him before people start dying. The fight is pretty awesome, with Barry relying on superspeed to try to defeat the Arrow while Oliver used his years of strategy and training to outmaneuver the Flash. Oliver ultimately emerged the victor, having passed up on several opportunities for kill shots and managing to land a few very satisfying blows on his arrogant opponent, but he took a pretty sound beating in the process. In the end, the 30-year old Oliver won due to discipline and total mastery of his abilities, but was limping and probably losing function in at least one kidney by the end; young Barry lost due to inexperience and hubris, but shook off his injuries and healed without any permanent damage. The problem is, Oliver's body is not capable of much more than he's already learned, and Barry has nowhere to go but up. It's kind of a bummer.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
