10 Reasons Why The Walking Dead Is Currently Better Than Ever
5. The Improved Horror
With all the character drama and the battles between different groups, The Walking Dead spent a short while trading its horror roots for a focus on action and human-on-human violence. This is particularly true of Seasons Seven and Eight, which spent an awful long time focused on the war with the Saviours.
Enter Season Nine, though, and horror was once more at the forefront of the show. The introduction of the Whisperers in the mid-season premier signals a dark change in tone for the show, offering creepy visuals and atmospheric set pieces which wouldn't have looked out of place in a big budget horror movie.
In Season Ten, the inclusion of horror has only managed to get better. From the claustrophobic darkness of the episode Squeeze to Beta's recent hallucinations, the current season has made the world of The Walking Dead exactly as it should be - terrifying, bloodcurdling and shudder-inducing. If this tone keeps up through to the show's end, then it's going to end a very high note indeed.
