10 Reasons Why What You Leave Behind Is The Best Star Trek Finale

1. Odo Loves Quark

One of the most enduring double-acts in all of Star Trek has been the love/hate relationship between Quark and Odo. From the very beginning, they were destined to be nemeses and yet ended up, if not friends, then certainly having a fun, mutual respect.

According to Quark, Odo loves every inch of him. According to Odo, he had nothing to say on the matter.

Like a real friendship then!

Their scene at the airlock, while very short, is one of the best scenes that the pair share together. How would the writers find a way to sum up seven years of adversity, of battling each other to gain victory over every other scheme? They went with the best possible option. They both get the last word.

Theirs was a friendship that didn't make a lot of sense to observers. Colonel Kira begins to apologise to Quark over the way Odo walked away, while he simply laughs it off, certain that this is just Odo's way of showing him how deeply he cares. He raises a glass in toast, and the game that had gone on for so long between them is finally at an end.

With the passing of Rene Auberjonois, this is the last time that these two characters got to face off. Thankfully, this is a perfect scene and a perfect ending.
