8. They Are Actually Friends In Real Life
Its refreshing to watch a sitcom that was created, developed and produced by the actors that star in it, it seems more organic. The chemistry between the cast is clear to see in their onscreen characters and as they know each other and the show so well they are able to improvise scenes without seeming awkward. As the show progresses backstories are added which help each character to evolve (or de-evolve) every detail is completely believable in the context of the character. This is something that would not happen so naturally if the cast were not so invested in the show as McElhenny, Howerton and Day obviously are. For season seven McElhenny decided it would be funny to transform fitness freak Mac into Fat Mac by gaining 50lbs in weight. How many sitcom actors would be willing to go to such extremes for the sake of comedy?
