10 Reasons You Should Be Watching Once Upon A Time

4. Strong Characters, Period

Throughout its tenure, Once Upon A Time has provided a wide variety of unique, interesting, and strong characters €“ male and female alike. In a show about fairy-tales, it would have been incredibly easy to simply phone in the characterization: Jiminy Cricket as the do-gooder conscience, Grumpy the dwarf as the crotchety sourpuss, Prince Charming as€ well, charming. Instead, we€™re treated to a much more layered and complex slate of characters with motivations and emotional connections far beyond the one-dimensional possibilities. Through the show€™s flashback (and forward) style of storytelling, the lines between heroes and villains are blurred and the viewer is forced to reconsider their notions of morality, fairytale and otherwise.
