10 Recent Sci-Fi TV Shows (You Gave Up On Too Soon)
5. People Of Earth
Lord knows why People of Earth never managed to find its feet with the general public. You could perhaps chalk it up again to a bad ad campaign, or perhaps because of the show's unconventional tone maybe not clicking with viewers right away, but, like some of the best shows, if you stick with People of Earth you'll get one of the funniest and often one of the sweetest sci-fi comedies out there.
It's sad that to this day those of us who are wired a little differently are, more often than not, mocked for said wiring, and that's especially true in the case of most TV shows. What was so refreshing about People of Earth was that the members of StarCrossed weren't ever portrayed as ranting, manic lunatics with corkboards covered in string and newspaper clippings. They were portrayed as people who had each went through a difficult experience and simply wanted help.
Beyond that it was also funny as all hell. People of Earth took full advantage of all the overused sci-fi tropes out there and absolutely bled them dry whilst retaining a sense of humanity. Tie all that together with Wyatt Cenec as the endlessly charming lead and you owe it to yourself to check this show out.
