9. Fear Her
Sticking with the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler now for another of Series 2's most underrated episodes. This one features the 2012 Olympics, a scribble monster and an alien-possessed girl who draws her victims and puts them on her wall. Unlike most episodes of Doctor Who, this one doesn't even sound all that great on paper, either, but if you're looking for 45 minutes of pure escapism which a) doesn't require that much concentration and b) features lots of David Tennant and Billie Piper action (no, not that sort of action...), then this one is definitely for you. It's not surprising, really, that this one is constantly overshadowed by the finale two-parter it precedes and the epic The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit adventure which came before it (it was actually led into by the aforementioned Love & Monsters, but that one is generally ignored). Apart from the somewhat glorified closing scene, in which the Tenth Doctor lights the Olympic flame, there isn't really that much to write home about at all. What it is, though, is a story about hope, love and a reminder of the importance of friendship. When you're stuck in the house on a rainy day with no plans, no friends but a blanket and copious amounts of tea, that's probably exactly what you're looking for. It could always be worse, of course. You could be feeling as lonely as the Isolus.
