10 Revived TV Shows That Should Have Stayed Dead

Dallas Reboot cast

The original series of Dallas had a healthy run from 1978 to 1991, and gave birth to some classic TV moments: the attempted murder of J.R. Ewing, and his brother Bobby returning to life after his wife dreamt a whole season where he died. The premise had been wrung dry by the end of season fourteen, so it was wrapped up with J.R.€™'s supposed suicide and the world moved on.

After an attempted movie version -€“ which would have starred John Travolta and Jennifer Lopez -€“ failed to take off, the show itself was dusted off and given a reboot. Original cast members like Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy returned, and were joined by a hip young cast as the new generation of Ewing€™s. The result was a very hollow retread of the original, where the old cast seems tired and bored, and the new cast were too bland to invest in.

The show also had to overcome Hagman passing away during the second season, and the loss of the most interesting character led to a swift ratings decline and cancellation by the end of season three.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
