10 Roles Doctor Who Actors Wish They'd Turned Down

8. Billie Piper - The Calcium Kid

Although she has now firmly established herself as one of Britain's most popular and versatile stars of the stage and screen, Billie Piper certainly had a lot to prove when she retired indefinitely from the music industry (oh yeah, she used to be a popstar, by the way... did she mention? Probably not!) at the tender age of 21 to pursue a career in acting. Her reputation initially proceeded her - and not in a good way - when she was haunted by the distant echoes of "Because we want to..." which apparently meant that no casting agency in the land wanted to go near her with a ten foot barge pole. Until, that is, she landed a supporting role in her biggest gig yet, the 2004 comedy The Calcium Kid, which, when you look at it on paper, had all the makings to be her big break. Except it totally wasn't. She played Legolas' Orlando Bloom's girlfriend in the 'mockumentary' so it surprised everyone when their sizzling on screen chemistry - or rather, complete lack of - resulted in the film becoming a resounding flop at the box office. In fact, it was received so badly that it currently holds a rating of 0% and it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon. 'Cause like, it's been forgotten. Her character was called Angel, though, so she probably should've seen it coming, really.
