8. Torchwood €“ Something Borrowed

Getting that positive test result is always a shock, whether you are expecting it or not. But it's one thing to get the news from a little white test strip, it's another to wake up one morning to find yourself fully pregnant €“ on your wedding day. That's what happens to Gwen Cooper, the morning following her hen night after a bite from an alien causes her to carry its offspring. Stubborn as usual, Gwen ignores all suggestions from the team to call the wedding off. Instead, she finds herself facing her friends and family, having to explain to them how she is suddenly pregnant, and avoid being killed by the alien child's murderous alien mother - all while trying to keep her composure on one of the most important days of her life. Though Torchwood is often seen as Doctor Who's darker and more adult cousin, this episode shows a lighter and more humorous side to the series. It is one of the few episodes where the characters aren't faced with morally questionable situations, and provides with it some of the funniest and most heartfelt moments in the entire series. Though the episode ends rather haphazardly with all of the wedding guests being given a memory toxin (named ironically as "Retcon") "Something Borrowed" is a well-rounded, fun episode €“ particularly if you've got a baby bump of your own.
