10 Scrapped Star Trek Releases You Never Got To See
3. Star Trek: Federation
Yep, here we are again, a radically new Star Trek show pitched following the cancellation of Enterprise that was rejected in favour of JJ Abrams movie. This time, jumping the franchise some 300 years into the future, to see The Federation as a declining force on the brink of quietly collapsing.
Vulcan has left to reunite with Romulus, and other major races like the Betazoids, Andorians, and Bajorans have also declared their independence. Corruption reigns in the now largely-human organisation, and a new alien race invades the galaxy looking to finish them off once and for all.
As part of a desperate attempt to recapture some of the Federation's glory days, a new Enterprise is commissioned to both defend the outer worlds from this threat and rekindle a love of exploration. Onboard, a young Lt Commander named Alex Kirk, nostalgically appointed to a position as 2nd officer he's largely unqualified for.
However on one of the ship's early voyages, but the Captin and his second-in-command are killed, with Kirk bravely stepping up to avert a major disaster. As a reward, he's promoted to ship's captain, and the Enterprise sets off on a new series of weekly adventures hoping to revive the hamstrung Federation.
