10 Secret TV Pilot Episodes You Didn't Know Existed
9. Charmed - The Other Phoebe
Oftentimes, a roughly made pilot episode is created as a basic pitch to television studios, meaning that many details are less thought out or crassly executed. This can result in script differences, set and prop changes and even character switches. For Charmed's initial pilot, all of these things were present.
Firstly, the episode was only 30 minutes long, 17 minutes shorter than what we usually expect from Charmed and because of this, many crucial scenes were left out completely. Some of the small set and prop differences include the iconic Halliwell Manor being called "The Warren Manor", and The Book Of Shadows being much less extravagant in looks. Most probably as it was just supposed to give the studio an idea of what it could look like.
The biggest differences, however, were casting ones. First, the character of Daryl the cop didn't exist at all, so there was no back and forth, witty banter between Daryl and his partner Andy to bring comedy to the episode.
On the topic of Andy, not only was he barely in the episode, he was played by a completely different actor. And finally, the beloved character of Pheobe was originally played by Lori Rom, but she quit shortly after the show was picked up due to religious conflict, and Alyssa Milano was thankfully brought in to take over the role.
