The Death: As the prison became overrun with walkers, Lori started going into labour. Trapped in the boiler room, Maggie was forced to perform an emergency c-section on Lori, which saved the baby but killed her in the process. How It Changed Things: Considering Rick is the main character of the show, having his wife die is about the biggest thing that could happen to him. He was already succumbing to the darkness within him but this was the final straw. He briefly lost his mind, regained it, but even with his sanity, he retained an element of darkness that was never previously there. Rick was understandably shaken by the whole thing but ultimately, it was Carl who had to pull the trigger on his own zombified mother. Surprisingly, rather than going to Rick levels of darkness and despair, this causes him to really step up, assuming more of an adult role. This death was arguably the biggest thing that shaped two of the series' most prominent characters. Even now, it feels like Carl and Rick would not have been this dark and hardened were Lori still around. What do you think were the most impactful deaths on The Walking Dead?
