As Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville developed the Jackass concept, they shopped the series around to a variety of networks. An early front runner was NBC's venerable sketch comedy series, Saturday Night Live.

The idea was that Jackass would be included on SNL as a weekly segment, though that quickly fell apart when offers from Comedy Central and MTV came in. They eventually chose MTV as the home for Jackass.

Given the frustrations the Jackass team had when dealing with censors on the MTV series, one can only wonder how enraging dealing with NBC would have been for them. That being said, seeing Will Ferrell guest star in one of their bits would have been amazing.
