Imagine a story so bad that it caused the star to hand in their notice for playing the role. This occurred on the set of 1984's Warriors of the Deep, a serial so rushed and hacked together that it convinced Peter Davison to step down as the Fifth Doctor at the end of the series.

Set in 2084, Warriors of the Deep features the Silurians and the Sea Devils in a fight to control nuclear missiles in an underground base. To give the serial its due, the rushed production is the main reason the story belongs in the 'so bad it's good' category, as due to a general election the story lost two weeks of its production time.

As a result, most of the scenes were shot in a single take with no rehearsals whatsoever. The biggest laugh-out-loud moment comes with the introduction of the Myrka, as the costume was completed just one hour before it was required for shooting. This meant that the paint on the costume was still wet, and the two poor actors inside had no idea how to work the costume, likening the experience to sniffing glue.
