Star Trek Maurice Roeves
CBS

Maurice Roëves appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He played the Romulan Commander in the sixth season episode, The Chase. This pivotal story brought together, for the first time, the Federation, the Romulans, the Klingons and the Cardassians. Roëves' Commander is the surprise of the episode as, in his brief but memorable scene, he shows Captain Picard that perhaps there really is hope for an understanding between the different races of the Galaxy.

Roëves was a serial actor who appeared in many, many productions in his life. Born in Sunderland but raised in Glasgow, he appeared in the seminal Doctor Who serial The Caves of Androzani, one of the most important stories in Classic Doctor Who. He also appeared in the long running soap, Eastenders. His first major role came as Stephen Dedalus in 1967, in James Joyce's Ulysses, with another major role in The Last of the Mohicans later on in life.

He passed away this year after a short illness., on the 15th of July. He was 83 years old.
