10 Star Trek Burns That Still Sting

9. He's Probably Terrified Of Your Beads And Rattles

Star Trek Spock McCoy
CBS

In the second season episode of The Original Series, I,Mudd, Spock and McCoy are walking down the hallway when Crewman Norman passes them. McCoy greets him, which he acknowledges and continues walking. This brings McCoy up short.

He explains to Spock that there is something 'off' about the man, to which Spock requests specific reasons rather than labels. McCoy then comments on how the man never smiles. Spock doesn't bite. Irritated, McCoy goes on.

He snaps that there's something wrong with a man who judges everything by logic, who never smiles and who never discusses his past. Fearing he may have gone a little too far, he walks it back and says that it's only strange for a non-Vulcan. He then comments that the crewman still hasn't come in for his physical.

He's probably terrified of your beads and rattles.

With this, Spock turns and walks away, leaving McCoy speechless in the middle of the corridor. The pair may have constantly sparred but in this case, Spock absolutely gets the last word.
