10 Star Trek Characters We Had To Wait Years To See Again

8. His Name Is Mudd

His Original Series appearances may polarise fans with a certainly over-the-top performance from Roger C Carmel. This was unequivocally brought bang up to date thanks to Rainn Wilson in Discovery's first season and subsequent Short Trek.

Harcourt Fenton Mudd bears the honour of being the only guest antagonist to have two appearances in The Original Series - Mudd's Women for the first season and I, Mudd for season two. If we push the starship out a little further then he has three appearances with Carmel also voicing the rogue trader in The Animated Series' Mudd's Passion.

Gong by live-action appearances though, Harry Mudd manages bang on 40 years between appearances in 1967 and 2017. With another two live-action appearances in Choose Your Pain and Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad, this Mudd is a much darker, more calculating character than established in his later years from The Original Series. Indeed, Magic... provides the show with a fascinating time loop that sees Mudd attempting to turn the tables for his own advantage. Of course. His last turn in the short The Escape Artist hinted at future (past?) escapades with android duplicates.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
