10 Star Trek Foods We Wish Were Real

1. Bloodwine

Klingons really do have one of the best-explored cultures in all of Star Trek, and having a third item on this list is proof of it.

Whether in tell-tale metal bottles or just dipped sloppily out of vast kettles, warm bloodwine is the go-to intoxicant of every proud and honorable Klingon warrior. It has fans among humans, too, though its exceptionally high alcoholic content makes it a bit much for some to bear. It also, to Odo’s lasting disappointment, doesn’t have bubbles.

There’s no statement in the canon about whether bloodwine does indeed have blood in it, but the Star Trek Cookbook, which is apparently a thing, insists that it’s prepared from fermented blood and sugar. It does not, however, clarify where the blood comes from. (In this way, it is similar to enemy’s blood, a Kazon liquor.)

Whether one’s poison of choice is Saurian brandy, kanar, Romulan ale, or even Slug-o-Cola, Captain Sisko spoke for many when he roared, “Brag all you want – but don’t get between me and the bloodwine!”
