9. Meowth's Back Story
This was an utter mystery at the beginning, leaving many viewers confused to why Meowth had the ability to speak but I think the writers did a pretty good job with the story they created for how Meowth learned the english language. It stems from Meowth being an abandoned Pokemon living at Camp Pokehearst and after seeing a movie, decides to leave and go to Hollywood. Whilst there, he was approached by a gang of Meowth, led by a Persian and accepted into their gang, helping him get the food he needed. A tale of love follows, but the Meowth he falls for has no interest in a "Street Meowth" which make him pursue a skill to woo her over. The skill Meowth learns, is the ability to speak and when returning to the Meowth he loves, she is more turned-off by him now and refers to him as a freak. This led to Meowth joining Team Rocket and having many happy years of "Blasting Off Again!' to come. The episode for anybody truly interested is within the First Season E70, "Go West, Young Meowth".
