10 Things Doctor Who REALLY Wants You To Forget

5. Martha's Marriage To Mickey

We were all disappointed when it was revealed that the upcoming spinoff The War Between the Land and the Sea would feature the other Jones sister.

While Gugu Mbatha-Raw won't be playing Tish Jones in the spinoff and she is a fantastic actress in her own right, it was still a sad reminder that we may not see the return of the Tenth Doctor's most underrated companion.

Hopefully it's because Freema Agyeman is in-demand following regular roles in Sense8 and New Amsterdam, rather than the fact that the last time we saw her, she was married to Noel Clarke's Mickey Smith.

In 2021, Clarke was accused of sexual harassment and bullying by numerous women, as reported in The Guardian. Clarke denies the allegations, and is in the process of suing the paper for defamation.

It's the sort of legal and reputational nightmare Doctor Who will want to avoid, especially now it's trying to become a major global brand. But even forgetting the allegations against Noel Clarke, RTD marrying off Rose and the Doctor's "second best" options left a sour taste in the mouth.

So just fix it – bring back Martha as a widow who's nobody's second best, and give Mickey the Poochie treatment.
