10. The Original Pilot

Long before you ever saw Westeros transferred onto the screen, HBO came up with a Pilot episode that starred Jennifer Ehle and Tamzin Merchant as Catelyn and Daenerys. It was bad. Like, it was really, really bad. So bad in fact, that they re-shot virtually the entire episode all over again. They drafted in Michelle Fairley and Emilia Clarke to begin their now-familiar roles, and tweaked almost every character in order to create a fantastic episode which is the one we've all seen on TV. Very few people ever got to see the entire initial Pilot, and HBO are probably keen to keep it that way judging by some of the comments made about it. Thankfully it's all in the past and a phenomenal show was born from the ashes of a disaster.
