10 Things Television Fans Found Too Distracting

1. A Main Character Takes A Hike

Sudden character departures and actor swaps are one thing, but it can be far more distracting when one of the main characters leaves the show altogether. When this happens, it would probably be better for everyone involved if the show came to an end, but every so often, they continue.

An example of this happening came in the form of Sliders, a science-fiction series that premiered on Fox back in 1995. The show revolved around four main characters who traveled from one alternate reality to another in the hope of returning to their own, and it was a fun and thought-provoking show.

The first two seasons went along well enough, but the third was messed with by the studio executives, which led to John Rhys-Davies' and Sabrina Lloyd's departure, and they were two of the four leads. Soon after, the original series creators all jumped ship, which ultimately led to its cancellation.

Sliders didn't go down without a fight, and after a transition to SyFy, it got two more seasons. The main problem came when the series' primary protagonist, who was played by Jerry O'Connel, departed after season four. The final season only consisted of one original actor (Cleavant Derricks), and none of the original creative team. It wasn't just distracting; it was bad television.
