3. Watching Baywatch

A recurring and touching interaction between Chandler and Joey was their mutual love of NBC's bikini-clad action drama Baywatch. In which some very good looking men and women would gallop across a beach in slow-motion to attempt to rescue the drowning, seduce a surfer, or diffuse a nuclear bomb.

The show was at its peak at the same time as Friends, and added yet another immensely relatable element to the characters of Chandler and Joey - men in their apartments across the country tuning in to get another good look at the likes of Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth.

Ironically, despite the fact it's still entirely possible for two men in their 20s to get very excited at the prospect of watching an episode of Baywatch in 2016, the main thing that gives Friends away is that the characters aren't commenting on how badly the show's aged when they put it on.
