5. No Official Answer To The Ass Crack Bandit
One of Community’s biggest mysteries is the identity of the mysterious Ass Crack Bandit. The bandit appeared in the Season 5 episode Basic Intergluteal Numismatics, where they gained infamy for dropping quarters down people’s butts. The episode followed the gang trying to track down the bandit, but their search was cut short when Shirley reveals that Pierce has passed away, leaving the bandit’s true identity a mystery.
Harmon does not give a real answer, not for artistic purposes or to keep the mystery alive, but because he simply does not know. He says,
“I would have to watch that episode again and detach myself from it and speak as a viewer and say my pet theory about who it is, but… it was my job to make sure it could have been anybody.”
Basic Intergluteal Numismatics works well since, by the resolution, pretty much any character, barring Starburns, who is clearly stated to NOT be the Bandit, and the deceased Pierce, could possibly be the culprit. Knowing that Harmon does not have an official answer makes the episode all the better.
