10 Things We Learned From The Star Trek Lower Decks Trailer

6. Welcome To The Bridge

Star Trek Lower Decks Bridge

We've now seen the bridge! And it looks...cramped!

The bridge of the USS Cerritos calls to mind a slightly more packed version of the Enterprise-D. There are three chairs dominating the centre of the room, presumably for the Captain, First Officer and, as was often needed on the Next Generation, the ship's counselor (it makes as much sense as it sounds, just go with it).

The Ops and Conn stations are separated like many modern Starfleet designs, with a large display screen dominating the rear of the bridge. It is both a simple yet elegant design, though it suggests the smaller size of the Cerritos.

Ships like Voyager (arguably the best bridge design of the lot) have a grander scale of bridge, while the Defiant has a cramped, submarine-inspired room. The Enterprise-D has a bright and spacious design, both inviting and suggesting of its purpose of exploration vessel. The older Constitution class bridges are a little closer to the Cerritos design - everyone close together, armrests that are somewhat lacking!

The design is instantly recognisable as a Starfleet vessel. The seeming cheering in this image above calls to mind a cheering Data in Star Trek: Generations - let's hope this doesn't bode ill for the Klingons!
