5. ...And Was The Youngest Female Artist To Debut At #1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_XI_290cfw Why you gotta play that song so loud?! Oh, Billie. At least it wasn't all for nothing, though. She can still hold her head high as the youngest ever female solo artist to debut at a #1 single when her first musical offering, Because We Want To, was released in 1998 and became one of the decade's iconic pop anthems as the official song of the 1999 Women's World Cup. Not too shabby, eh? And you can relive the magic for yourself in the video above, if you're feeling particularly brave. Go on, you know you want to... And it's not like it was a one hit wonder, either. Her follow up single, Girlfriend, also debuted at number one and her first album, Honey to the B, which gave unto the world such classic tracks as Love Groove, Party on the Phone and Whatcha Gonna Do, peaked at #14 in the UK album chart. It even went multi-platinum in New Zealand and, although Billie never won any of the coveted BRIT Awards for which she was nominated, she was once given the prestigious title of Princess of Pop which pretty much blows any other form of recognition out of the park. So there you go.
