Marvel's ever-growing dominance over the comic-book film and TV world shows no sign of stopping any time soon, with the release of web series "Daredevil" just the latest superhero venture they have embarked upon. However, this time things are slightly different - because Daredevil is the first in a host of collaborations between Marvel and Netflix that will see several comic-book-inspired series broadcast through the on-demand internet streaming service. The decision to begin with Daredevil, a character who has not been portrayed on screen since Ben Affleck took up the role in the largely-disappointing 2003 film of the same name, is a brave one. With that being the case, then the actor chosen to play the blind but extremely athletic and acrobatic Matt Murdock - AKA Daredevil - was always going to be of the utmost importance. The executive producers of the series are confident that in 32-year-old British actor Charlie Cox they have made an inspired choice. Best known for his roles as Owen Sleater in HBO's Boardwalk Empire and as Tristan Thorne in the film Stardust, Cox is considered to be one of Britain's most-talented up-and-coming actors - something Netflix and Marvel will hope he proves in this series.
