That's right. Matt Smith is heading to a big screen near you, and, unlike Lost River, this one is actually going to get there, too. Boom. Matt's going from one formidable fantasy franchise to another as he embarks on Terminator Genisys and if you feared you'd never see him again after he left the wonders of the Whoniverse behind, rest assured that "he'll be back" with an almighty vengeance (it's hoped, anyway, but it's not looking good seeing as he's not even featured in the trailer...) in a currently undisclosed role. It's rumoured that he'll be portraying the grown up version of Tim who, for those of you whose knowledge of the Terminator mythology begins and ends with Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic line, was introduced in the second film as the mulleted friend of John Connor who he now fights alongside as part of the human resistance. That won't mean anything to you if you've never seen any of the films, and it probably won't make that much sense even if you have. More recent reports have claimed that Matt will actually be playing "the human embodiment of Skynet", which is basically a disembodied, self aware synthetic intelligence. And you thought the Doctor Who mythos was confusing! It's safe to say, though, that nobody really knows what the hell's going on, so you're just going to have to go and see it for yourself when it hits cinemas this July. He looks pretty badass on the promos, though.
