10 Things You Didn't Know About Matt Smith

1. He Was The Youngest Doctor Ever

And didn't the national press want us to know it!? Matt's highly publicised announcement as the Eleventh Doctor was somewhat overshadowed by the fact that he wasn't even alive when the series began (hell, he was only 7 when the series was axed in 1989 - is there no mercy?!). Oh, wait. His age doesn't effect his ability as a performer whatsoever (unless you're really unreasonable!), but for some reason it was the only thing everybody was talking about in relation to his casting. So let's just ignore the fact he was an already an established, albeit relatively unknown, young actor of the stage and screen, having already proven he was more than capable of taking over the reigns of the BBC's more popular drama. He was the tender age of 26 when he was enlisted as the universe's new coveted defender (three years younger that Peter Davison was at the time of his respective casting) which basically meant that he was a mere twinkle in the historic eye of TV's favourite Time Lord. He more than proved his naysayers wrong, of course, and references to his "baby face" even became somewhat of a running gag throughout his TARDIS tenure. After all, surely it's impossible for any actor to be "too young" to play the role of a 900 year old alien from outer space? Every actor is too young, which makes every argument to the contrary - and every subsequent argument after that - totally irrelevant. Come on, Daily Star. What else have you got!? What did you think of this list? Are there any other little known facts about Matt Smith that should've been included? Share 'em in the comments section below!
