10 Things You Need To Know About Trevor Noah

10. He'll Be The Youngest Host The Daily Show Has Had

It's hard to remember at this point, but Jon Stewart wasn't actually the first person to lead The Daily Show. He did it for sixteen years in the end, which is why the idea of him being replaced is so galling (even if Stewart himself chose to leave). But that was from 1999 onwards, and The Daily Show first appeared on screens €“ with a different version of the theme song, no less €“ in 1996. The original host was Craig Kilborn, age 36 when he took the reigns. Originally Kilborn made his name as a SportsCenter anchor on ESPN, with his tenure on the show more about his presenting skills than his comic mind (in fact one particular off-colour joke about a female colleague in an interview got him rightly suspended for a spell). Stewart is the one who made The Daily Show what it is today, moving the fake news format to be more political and less partisan whilst also becoming a heck of a lot more funny. Stewart, too, was 36 when he got the job. Noah is 31, making him the youngest Daily Show host so far. That's how good he is.
