10 Times Doctor Who Appeared In Other TV Shows

9. The Vicar Of Dibley

Classic British sitcom The Vicar Of Dibley came to an end in 2007, after just 20 episodes.

This was in the middle of the Tenth Doctor's era, when Doctor Who's popularity was at one of the highest levels it's ever been - which is probably why Dawn French and co. decided to include this bizarre reference in the Vicar's final outing.

In that final outing, the Vicar gets married to the handsome Harry, but the wedding isn't an entirely smooth operation: the bride's white dress is ruined by a muddy puddle, forcing her to attend the ceremony in her flowery pyjamas. Not good.

It's not all doom and gloom however, as the hilarious sight of chief bridesmaid Alice wearing a Tenth Doctor-inspired outfit - while also being flanked by two huge Daleks - instantly lifts the spirits in the room.

In a previous episode, Alice had actually tried to incorporate Doctor Who into her own wedding, though this ultimately didn't pan out. If at first you don't succeed... just use your mate's wedding instead.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
