10 Times Ned Flanders Was Indeedily-Doodily The Funniest Character In The Simpsons

2. When He Still Said "Diddily" As A Werewolf

Being such a harmless and well-meaning sort, Ned is about the least-threatening person in all of Springfield. Even as a moustachioed werewolf, he comes across as more comical than threatening. He did maul Homer to death, granted, but he deserved that.

That’s right. In Treehouse Of Horror X, the segment I Know What You Diddily-Iddly Did sees the family accidentally run Ned over while driving home late one spooky night (he was on one of his patented late night fog walks), then proceed to try and hide their part in his death.

Nobody’s any the wiser, except for the mysterious person in the rain slicker who leaves threatening messages for the family. This turns out to have been Ned himself, who wasn’t killed because he had been bitten by a werewolf shortly before.

The funniest part of all of this isn’t the movie satire or the dark humor, but the fact that the werewolf Flanders growls “diddily!” before attacking Homer. You’ve got to appreciate this commitment to a catchphrase/ridiculous speech pattern.
